This booklet was published in conjunction with the exhibition Tawapayera (28.10.2017 – 04.02.2018), curated by Alexandre Melo and held at the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar. The exhibition is part of the Past and Present – Lisbon-Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2017 programme and is based on works that Júlio Pomar created from his experiences in the Brazilian Amazon region, specifically with the Yawalapiti tribe. The exhibition also represents both an honour and a responsibility accepted by three participating artists born more than half a century after Júlio Pomar.
